South Australia’s top transfer transactors, now PEXA Certified!

Bartel & Hall Barristers & Solicitors embraced e-Conveyancing the minute it hit South Australia. Since then, they’ve become the state’s top online transfer transactor as well as the first firm in South Australia to become PEXA Certified.

Sue Bartel, Principal Conveyancer and Alison Skinner, Registered Conveyancer at Bartel & Hall spoke energetically about their e-Conveyancing experience to date and how they’ve never had to “sell PEXA” to their clients.

Decisions

“We had to make a decision last year to either embrace e-Conveyancing or risk our business falling behind”, Sue explains. “Not only that, but our firm is located over 80km from the nearest settlement room in Adelaide. If we can reduce those weekly trips, even better”.  Bartel & Hall Solicitors didn’t hold back, diving straight into a transfer as their first online transaction with great success. As a result, they now hold the title of Top Transfer Transactor 2016 for online transactions in South Australia.

“PEXA’s training and support centre was amazing, especially our PEXA Virtual Specialist Amanda Soames. We joined the PEXA Virtual Training program to get the training we needed to become competent PEXA-users. Ultimately, we graduated the program and are now PEXA Certified. Amanda guided us through the four module PEXA Virtual Program and helped us with any issues we encountered along the way “.

Help improve PEXA

“On one matter our transfer didn’t go to plan and we encountered a problem before settling. The other party’s Conveyancer wanted to convert to paper but we said no. Immediately we contacted Amanda and the PEXA support centre, and they put our minds at ease. The problem was resolved, allowing us to settle online at 4pm the same day – something that is unimaginable in the paper-world. If there’s a problem with a settlement via paper, you could be waiting one or two days before settling. It wouldn’t have solved anything reverting to paper and by raising the issue with PEXA we solved the problem, kept our clients happy and helped future transactions for the industry.”

Changing behaviours

“The benefits of PEXA have been obvious from the beginning. Gone are the days of spending hours on the phone to the banks. In fact, we have seen higher responsiveness from the banks since PEXA. They have a dedicated PEXA team and we’re not talking to a different person in a call centre each time”.

“We have completed 20 transfers and not once have we had to sell PEXA to our clients. Our clients and Real Estate Agents benefit from a more efficient and reliable settlement process, receiving their funds by electronic transfer direct from the Reserve Bank, so no more waiting for cheques to clear”.

Advice

Not travelling in and out of Adelaide has its perks for Sue and Alison, however for Adelaide-based firms travel is not one of their concerns. “Transacting online still has its benefits for firms closer to the settlement room. They will save so much time not attending the settlement room. It can take almost 45 minutes for one settlement with another five to queue up for afterwards. Why not watch your settlement happen from your desk while getting other work done? E-Conveyancing is here, it’s time to embrace it.”
