PEXA’s Ethical Advisory Committee

Glenn  King

Glenn was appointed CEO of PEXA in 2019, following a distinguished career in customer service and change. Previously, Glenn spent several years as a senior public servant at NSW Government, leading and executing the Premier’s Implementation Unit. Most recently he was the NSW Customer Service Commissioner and Secretary of the NSW Government’s Department of Customer Service.
Glenn has led a range of successful sector-wide reforms, delivering on the NSW Government’s commitment to put customers at the centre of service and simplifying citizen interactions with government.  Prior to Government, Glenn held domestic and international senior executive roles across the National Australia Bank group and as executive at Save the Children. Glenn was also appointed a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia for outstanding contribution to study or practice of public administration.

Dr Ian Oppermann

Dr. Ian Oppermann is the NSW Government’s Chief Data Scientist and an Industry Professor at University of Technology Sydney. With nearly 30 years of experience in the ICT sector, Ian’s experience spans senior management roles in Europe and Australia, including with Nokia and the CSIRO where he has delivered products and services that have reach millions of people globally. A leading thought leader on the digital economy, Ian has contributed to 6 books and co-authored more than 120 papers. Dr. Oppermann holds an MBA from the University of London and a PhD in Telecommunications from the University of Sydney.

Malcolm  Crompton AM

Malcolm Crompton AM has more than 20 years of experience in privacy, including as Australia’s Privacy Commissioner from 1999 to 2004. A founder and Partner at IIS Partners, he is leading privacy expert, advising private and government clients on privacy matters across a wide range of industries. Malcolm has also advised major global bodies including the APEC forum and the OECD. Malcolm holds degrees in Chemistry and Economics from The Australian National University. Malcolm is a co-author of ‘The New Governance of Data and Privacy: Moving from compliance to performance’. Malcolm was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2016.

Damien Manuel

Damien Manuel has almost 30 years of experience in the ICT sector across a range senior roles. As PEXA’s General Manager, Open Data Regulation, he is responsible for overseeing the engagement of key regulators on data use matters. In addition to his role with PEXA, Damien is the current Chairperson of the Australian Information Security Association, a member of Oceania Cyber Security Centre’s Advisory Board and an Adjunct Professor with Deakin University. Damien holds a range of specialist security, audit and governance certifications as well as an Executive MBA from the University of Melbourne – Melbourne Business School.

Rosemary Jay

Rosemary is a UK lawyer who has worked in the area of data privacy for over 35 years. She joined the UK regulator as its first head of the legal function in 1987 and has since become one of the most well-respected experts in the field. She has been recognised as a leader in her area by Chambers and Partners Directory since 2011. Rosemary has worked with a number of international bodies on data privacy issues and laws and currently acts as a consultant senior attorney with US law firm, HuntonAK, working with the Firm’s privacy think-tank, the Centre for Information Policy Leadership.

Marko Jovanovic

Marko looks after PEXA&#8217;s privacy compliance program and ensures that privacy is considered across all strategic and operational levels. Marko is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (Australia &amp; New Zealand) and actively contributes towards the development of strong privacy practices across the Group, including leading PEXA&#8217;s Ethics Advisory Committee.
