Johnston Withers Lawyers benefiting from PEXA and CATS integration

By PEXA • Oct 2018

Technology made available by CATS for PEXA use is helping to drive Workspace efficiency for Johnston Withers Lawyers.

Johnston Withers Lawyers, leaders in South Australian law, are reaping the benefits of the new CATS Workspace integration with PEXA, utilising the technology to streamline its management of property settlements.

Built into the cloud version of CATS, the new functionality has a dedicated space in its interface for accessing PEXA Workspaces, with information automatically exported and populated.

Gemma Wallace, Board Member and Head of South Australian Conveyancing at Johnston Withers Lawyers, said the recent tech-enhancement is helping to improve the user experience for staff across the group’s many offices.

“We are always looking for ways to drive efficiencies in our internal practice and this development is a big step forward. The time saved due to eliminating the duplication on data entry is at about 10 minutes per file. The integration also ensures less room for human error with important data, such as client names and property addresses, only requiring one lot of input.”

“With a team of 15 conveyancing and property law staff members utilising both CATS and PEXA there has been a staggered roll out in the uptake of our staff utilising the integration to its full ability.”

“The JW residential conveyancing team and in particular our regional conveyancers (we have offices in Roxby Downs, Port Augusta, Whyalla, Clare, Murray Bridge and two Adelaide offices) are leading the way. They have found it to be user friendly and are enjoying the time savings of not having to duplicate on data entry.”

With extensive history in the South Australian property industry, Gemma said the ongoing CATS and PEXA partnership is ensuring conveyancers are offered consistently dynamic technology in this period of digital progression.

“In 2016 when I was employed by Johnston Withers as Head of Conveyancing for their growing state-wide team my first step was to merge our system onto the CATS platform and fast track our PEXA subscription. We became the first law firm in SA to lodge an electronic instrument on PEXA shortly thereafter.”

“I have always been a supporter of CATS; locally owned, written by conveyancers for conveyancers, with an on-call state-based helpdesk and a thorough understanding of the unique elements of SA practice.”

“In my vast industry experience including as Head of Conveyancing for Johnston Withers state-wide, I am very impressed by this collaboration of the two stakeholders (PEXA and CATS).”
