Industry award winners crowned at PropertyX

By PEXA • May 2018

Leaders in e-Conveyancing celebrated with inaugural PEXA’s (Property Excellence Awards).

Conveyancers, property lawyers and the major banks spearheading the digitisation of property were recognised at a gala awards dinner in Melbourne, as the first PEXA’s (Property Excellence Awards) winners were announced.

The evening was the culmination of industry-wide conference PropertyX, held by Property Exchange Australia (PEXA), with presentations from ARNECC, the Department of Finance, Services & Innovation of the NSW Government and Deloitte earlier in the day.

Electronic property transactions are phasing out the existing, paper-based method. The country’s transition to e-Conveyancing is booming, with over $130 billion in settlement value processed online.

The awards were created to celebrate those driving the industry’s digital reform, with winners drawn from the pool of over 6,000 conveyancers and lawyers and 140+ financial institutions on-board with PEXA. The awards were split into three categories: practitioners (lawyers, conveyancers, settlement agents), panel lawyers and financial institutions.

The Industry Acceleration award acknowledges firms which are leaders in the industry’s transition towards 100% digital – as early adopters with a significant level of electronic property transactions.

Below are the finalists and winners of the Industry Acceleration award.

CS Legal Managing Director, Richard Wensley, winner of the Practitioner Industry Acceleration Award, said the award was testament to his dynamic, industry-leading team. ”I have about 35 staff and my conveyancers are as good as you’re going to find, they’ve been wonderful and have really taken PEXA on board. They’ve put in the hours to convert across to the electronic system and they’ve made life so easy for our business. WA is a smaller market compared with over east and the fact that we’re number 1 in the country is quite amazing. I’m very proud of my team for having achieved this.”

PEXA Group Executive, Customer & Revenue, Mike Cameron said the night was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the industry’s outstanding contributors. “As Australia’s property landscape continues to evolve, it’s important to take the time to recognise the individuals and organisations that are driving change. PEXA is proud to do so by presenting these awards, and it is clear the recipients are playing important roles in advancing the industry.”
