WA industry come together to embrace e-Conveyancing

By PEXA • Jun 2018

As Western Australia continues to progress towards the digital era of property transactions, Debbie Crawford of Debbie Crawford Conveyancing led a collaborative morning aimed to bring all parties together.

A collection of members from Western Australia’s property network, including conveyancers, banks and PEXA representatives met on 30 May at an industry breakfast to discuss e-Conveyancing’s next steps.

The initiative, led by Debbie Crawford of Debbie Crawford Conveyancing, was designed to bring all parties together to collaborate as the state moves towards its 1 December compliance date, in which all combinations of eligible transfer transactions will switch online.

“I proposed the breakfast as way to unify the industry, to bring back the ‘good old days’ when we all helped each other and learned from each other. Leave politics at the door and move forward.”

“I hoped that the breakfast would provide an opportunity for us to exchange experiences, issues, solutions and enable us all to transition to e-Conveyancing as easily and smoothly as possible, benefiting both our business and our clients.”

And Debbie felt that the relaxed environment provided all attendees with valuable knowledge to takeaway.

“The breakfast was informal in structure, just allowed people to talk freely, ask questions, exchange ideas and information.

“I don’t believe there was one person who attended that didn’t have an “oh” moment – where they learnt something they didn’t know previously.”

The success of the venture has prompted Debbie to begin planning the next event to continue to enable WA’s property industry to meet and work together.

“When I put forward the idea of the breakfast, the response was remarkable, reaching capacity within 2 days – we even had a waiting list – where unfortunately some people missed out.”

“I received great feedback from the attendees with all but two advising that they found it extremely helpful, wanted to come to future events and would recommend it to others.”

“I look forward to organising future functions so the industry can continue to help each other learn and move forward with the process that is e-Conveyancing.”
