Be part of PEXA’s 2025 Grad Program

By PEXA • Oct 2024

Each year, PEXA’s graduate program welcomes a diverse cohort of talent who bring fresh perspectives and creative thinking to our innovative tech teams.

Our 12-month program is designed to embed graduates in an immersive learning experience in Software Development, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering or Security, rotating across projects within their functional area as they build capability and integrate with PEXA’s culture, values, and our purpose of Connecting People to Place.

Upon completion, our graduates then transition into an ongoing role, setting the stage for a rewarding career within PEXA.

Oliver and Ameena are two of PEXA’s grads from the 2023 and 2024 program.

Oliver Ceff used the grad program to make a career change after varied experiences in mechanical systems engineering and working abroad in Germany. He fell in love with IT after taking some short courses in coding, and completed a Masters of IT in 2023 before joining the 2024 grad program.

The level of support provided was one of the most important parts of the program for Oliver, helping him to bridge the daunting gap between university and a full time programming role. “Graduates get a mentor, manager and a buddy. Mine have all been eager to assist me when I’ve hit a roadblock.”

“The most important skill is to have a proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and you’ll be surprised how quickly you understand the most daunting and complicated topics,” said Oliver.

“Cybersecurity is a diverse field that benefits from a variety of backgrounds,” said Security Engineer, Ameena Altaf.

Ameena made her start in Australia as a stay-at-home mum, after migrating from India in 2015. She kept up her professional development in her spare time, leading her to join PEXA’s grad program in 2023 before taking a full-time role in the Cybersecurity team. Ameena believes that this experience was essential for developing the skills that make her an asset to the Cyber team.

“While having technical background can be beneficial; many other skills such as analytical thinking, communication skills, project management, attention to detail and policy development are valuable in cybersecurity.

“The field is constantly evolving with new threats and technologies, so staying updated and continuous learning is essential,” said Ameena.

Our latest graduate recruitment drive is currently underway, which means we’re on the lookout for talented up-and-comers with a passion for learning and a drive to innovate for good.
