Industry leaders reflect on their journey so far.
South Australian e-Conveyancing pioneers Mark Duffield and Paula Main of Lyon Conveyancing recently celebrated a significant milestone, reaching 50 years of service in the property industry.
Paula Main, business Co-Principal, said the half-century is an extremely important landmark for the business which was established by her mother, Margaret Lyon in 1968.
“We are very proud of this achievement. There aren’t too many businesses that can say that they have been serving the community for such a long time.”
“We are driven by wanting to help our clients achieve their property goals. We feel great satisfaction in assisting our clients to complete settlement and realise their property dreams, whether that be a first home purchase, a sale or subdivision.”
Having operated over such a vast period of time, the business has observed substantial industry progress, with the current digital transformation of conveyancing the key ongoing reform.
“We have seen many changes throughout the industry over the years and have been instrumental in the development of conveyancing concepts and innovations to assist our field. All of these have helped property transactions move into the now and keep up with the expectation of digital efficiencies.”
Electronic conveyancing continues to expand in South Australia. Lyon Conveyancing has embraced digital settlements and as one of the state’s leading transactors, has reaped the efficiencies which come from working online.
“Digital settlements have many benefits for our business and clients. There are many checks and processes in place which eliminate errors, preventing settlement delays. Digital settlements reduce the need for us to travel to the city to attend settlement, resulting in reduced costs and time for our Conveyancers – time that can be used to focus on our clients. Our clients enjoy the benefits of access to cleared funds within minutes of transaction complete and speedy registration.”
With 50 years ticked off, Mark, Paula and the Lyon Conveyancing team now cast an eager eye to the future – including its digital make-up.
“We are looking forward to reaching the next big milestone (75 years in business) and are excited about what changes we will see in the industry in the next 25 years and the broadening of transaction types able to be settled electronically in the near future. From our perspective, the transition to digital settlements has been smooth sailing.”
