The NSW Office of the Registrar General, and The Australian Institute of Conveyancers NSW Division (AICNSW) discuss the role of industry partnerships in the state.
New South Wales is preparing to fully embrace digital settlements and along the journey there’s been a notable constant – collaboration.
Robert Goncalves, of the NSW Office of the Registrar General, and The Australian Institute of Conveyancers NSW Division (AICNSW) have been involved in the transition dating back to the initial introduction of e-Conveyancing.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming milestone, in a market where 84% of lodgements are already being processed electronically, Robert believes that the readiness of the state is thanks to the strong relationships established between practitioners and industry bodies.
“This really is a whole industry effort. We like to see us, the ORG, as paving the road, but the drivers are the industry. They inform us about where we should be going, and we try to oblige by removing any barriers.”
“This transition couldn’t have happened without the industry collaboration – that’s PEXA, the NSW Law Society, the AICNSW, the Land Registry and Revenue.”
The ORG has been active in helping the network prepare, being a regular participant in PEXA Community ‘Ask us Anything’ sessions and webinars. Maintaining this consistent dialogue was key, explains Robert.
“We’ve put ourselves in the shoes of the practitioner and asked, what do I need to do? From there it was about communicating.”
