Reflect and reconsider this Australia Day

By Jarrod McAleese • Jan 2023

Like many individuals and organisations, PEXA is on a journey to ensure we appropriately engage with and recognise our nation’s indigenous culture.

And as we approach 26 January 2023 – a day that has traditionally been an opportunity for Australians to show national pride, it is important we acknowledge it is also a day that divides our country, and a day that causes great pain for our First Nations people.

We believe it’s a time to reflect on how we can bring meaningful reconciliation to life, to listen to the voices of Indigenous Australians, and strive for a more inclusive future together.

We are deeply committed to supporting the Uluru Statement from the Heart – and are advocates for a First Nations Voice to Parliament to be enshrined in the Constitution.

So today we’re encouraging all Australians to take steps to better understand the perspective of our First Nations people – and learn more about the significance, beauty and impact of the world’s longest living culture.
