Paper-free property with PD Law

“The benefit to our clients was the key factor in getting on board with PEXA.” Melinda Cox, Director and CEO, PD Law

“We want to offer a service our clients actually need, rather than what they are traditionally used to.”

This statement exemplifies the vision of progressive firm PD Law – to be client-first and technology-driven.

Founded in 2003, the Whitsunday based group is constantly looking to adapt and deliver the best experience for its clients. It’s this approach that saw PD Law achieve national recognition, as a 2014 finalist of The Australian Legal Practice Management Association (ALPMA) Telstra Thought Leadership Awards.

Always endeavouring to be at the cutting edge of property and legal technology, PD Law has adopted digital property settlements with Property Exchange Australia (PEXA)’s online platform.

There’s no need to physically attend settlements under this system – instead, parties work together online to complete settlements on behalf of homebuyers and sellers.

Director and CEO Melinda Cox shared that PD Law’s track record of innovation, with client and peer satisfaction at its core, made PEXA a logical solution.

“Using PEXA, helps keep our office paperless. We’re always adapting with technology, so our staff are all very flexible.

“The benefit to our clients was the key factor in getting on board with PEXA. Our vendors can access their money very quickly, with registration on title also happening in near real-time. Once we’ve uploaded all the documents, there’s no surprises.

“We also like the fact that our agents can be paid their commission from settlement, rather than via the old school delivery of cheques.”

PD Law was one of the early movers embracing e-Conveyancing in Queensland and Melinda said her staff were more than happy to lend a helping hand to fellow peers considering making the digital switch.

“In one case, we extended an invitation to a firm 100km north of us who haven’t used PEXA. We said we’d be happy to show them around and get them involved. I think firms helping each other out is always beneficial – that collective approach is important for the industry as a whole.”
