Technology and the human touch

By PEXA • Mar 2019

McKay Business Services prides itself on the personal touch and availability it offers clients.

With digital solutions popping up everywhere, and for seemingly everything, there’s concern that this type of human interaction will diminish. Quashing those fears, Denise McKay, founder and registered conveyancer at McKay Business Services, instead uses technology as a tool to help increase face-to-face time with her clients. She shares how PEXA helps her achieve this and how it’s relieved a lot of anxiety for her staff:

“I’ve been using PEXA since day one, almost three years ago for South Australia”, Denise says. “I had been waiting for it for a long time, even before PEXA was a realisation, I knew it would save a lot of headaches”.

In fact, McKay Business Services was the second firm in South Australia to complete a property transfer transaction in the state and continues to use the platform as much as possible.

“It’s a much easier process, and the banks are now being a lot more proactive. In fact, we save hours in our day when everything goes smoothly with other parties. This assurance gives us back time that we then reinvest in our clients. Before, if our clients wanted to speak for an hour about their settlement we would be stressed, if not rushing the conversation so we could get everything done on time. Now, we can, and do, give them that time – stress-free.”

“This is the experience our clients want; the speed and efficiency of technology coupled with the human touch – both of which we offer by using PEXA.”

With the tagline ‘Your Local Family First Conveyancer’, McKay Business Services bases its business model on the needs of clients.

“We’re happy that we can get our clients’ name(s) on title faster and their funds a lot quicker – why wouldn’t you want to provide that service to your client? PEXA has become the ‘norm’ in our practice. We don’t talk to our clients about using PEXA, we are a digital conveyancing company and when we can complete a transaction online, we do. And, we haven’t had one query or concern from our clients about it”, says Denise.

“More and more of our property transactions are digital and we’ve seen that increase over the years – and we love it. Over 25% of our matters are now on PEXA as more conveyancers start using the platform. I trained my entire team to use PEXA and I’m more than happy to help anyone with their transactions…if you’re completing your first transaction or your tenth. We as an industry have to help each other through this change”.

Denise had this advice for her hesitant South Australian peers:

“There is no excuse good enough not to transact online. If you’re registered with PEXA, accept invitations and get started. Support is everywhere you look. I encourage everyone, when they’re creating a business model for their future, to include e-Conveyancing”.
